The Karnataka government has been urged by the Old Mangalore Port Users’ Association to appoint an official to carry out the yearly inspection of ships for the renewal of ship validity certificate.
Harish Kava, member of the association, said that all these years the port officer was carrying out the yearly inspection for the renewal of validity certificates. After the retirement of the port officer of Old Mangalore Port 2 months ago, the officer in charge has not been given the responsibility of carrying out the inspection.
