The Andhra Pradesh government on July 8 directed its departments concerned to speed up the implementation of ongoing power projects and improve the power supply in the state. While suggesting that the Government encourage solar photovoltaic projects in the State, the State Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that public sector companies willing to set up plants could be encouraged and invited to set up solar plants according to the terms and conditions.
Following a detailed review of the power sector the CM asked the State Energy Department to ensure increase in generation capacity and proper supply to consumers. Officials suggested that solar water heaters could be made mandatory for new individual houses.
