The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) would take up major road projects of 1,167 kms with a tentative cost of over Rs 10.5 thousand crore in Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh during the current financial year, the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister CP Joshi said on April 19.
The Minister was addressing a function after dedicating the four-lanning of Zirakpur-Parwanoo portion (27.5 kilometer) of NH-5 to the nation at Chandimandir Toll Plaza near Panchkula in Chandigarh, which has been constructed with an investment of Rs 412 crore. He also inaugurated country’s first RFID Technology based Electronic Toll Collection Plaza. He informed that in Haryana four road projects with a length of 508 Kilometre, four in Punjab with a length of 454 kilometre and three in Himachal Pradesh with a length of 205 Kilometre would be taken up.
Joshi said that on the pattern of this newly inaugurated Electronic Toll, all Tolls in the country would be equipped with the RFID Technology so that the people could be benefited with the latest technology.
While elaborating on road projects which would be undertaken this year, Joshi said that in Haryana NHAI would take up four-laning of 80 kilometre long Rohtak-Hisar, two or four laning of 78 kilometre long Ambala-Kaithal, two or four laning of 160 kilometre long Kaithal to Haryana and Rajasthan border and two or four laning of 160 kilometre long Hisar-Dabwali raods would be taken up with an investment of Rs 3,574 crore.
