The ambitious coastal road project in Mumbai should be handled by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), suggested the civic body's standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale. The implementation and execution of of the project should be done by BMC, Shewale said and the reason for this he cited is that the BMC should be the nodal agency as most of the project falls under the BMC's jurisdiction.
This was one of the many suggestions made by Shewale on the civic budget, which is yet to be passed by the standing committee. Shewale said the BMC should set up an independent research and development cell to monitor the quality of roads. He also suggested that all corporators be provided with Android phones to help solve civic infrastructure issues.
