SAIL urges RDCIS to adopt new technology

SAIL director (technical) SS Mohanty urged the Research and Development Centre for Iron and Steel (India) (RDCIS) to adopt cutting edge technology and develop new products.

He said this during the inauguration of three-day international conference on rolling and finishing technology of steel. Mohanty also stressed on the importance of steel in economic development, global overcapacity, rising cost of raw materials like coking coal and advocated technological steps required to reduce the operating emissions in steel plants.

Some speakers at the conference laid importance on the need for judicious use of natural resources and asked experts in the steel segments to take positive steps to meet changing demand pattern and environmental regulations.

RDCIS executive director, Sridhar Varadarajan spoke about the relevance of the theme of the international conference.
