The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is going to launch the low-floor buses.    The buses will facilitate to have a comfortable ride comparatively. The Central government has decided to fund the procurement of 10,000 buses in the entire country under JNNURM-2013 to deploy within the urban development authority jurisdiction in cities, small and medium towns, says an official press release from APSRTC.    About the advantages of low-floor buses, the APSRTC said the buses will facilitate easy boarding for aged, women and differently- abled people. They don’t have two or three steps as in conventional buses.    However, the APSRTC said that because of quality of roads, low-floor buses will be launched in certain parts of the cities mentioned and for other areas, semi low-floor buses will be opted. Especially for congested areas and streets in the Old City of Hyderabad, 40 semi low-floor buses of 9.5 mtrs long will be introduced.    The APSRTC is preparing detailed project reports for infrastructure development which includes up-gradation and modernisation of existing bus depots and construction of new depots, the press release added.
