In order to provide better transport facilities to commuters, Haryana government has prepared a 'Multi-Modal Mobility' plan.

   As per the plan, the state government to introduce pod taxi in big cities and in Gurgaon, including the old city.

   The state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said this while flagging off the trial run of Rapid Metro. The Rapid Metro Gurgaon Corridor is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,088 crore and it is 5.1 kilometre long.

   It has six stations Sikanderpur, DLF phase-2, Belvedere Towers, Cyber city, Moulsari Avenue and Cyber Green Infinity Towers. Rapid Metro is an intra-city metro service, in Gurgaon which is first of its kind project on Public-Private- Partnership (PPP) model in the country.

   The corridor is expected to be completed by March, 2013 on which metro trains will run from 5 a.m. onwards till midnight, with an interval of 4 to 5 minutes. The fare of Rapid Metro will be similar to that of Delhi Metro.

   Hooda also laid foundation of Rapid Metro Extension project which will be completed by July, 2015 at an estimated cost of Rs 2,100 crore and it would also have six stations, officials said.

   The route length is about seven kilometer and it will cover the area of the city lying towards Sector 56 from Sikanderpur Metro Station. All three coaches of Rapid Metro in Gurgaon are put on the track for final trail (BCCL).
