Bihar CM vows to double generation to 4,000 mw

Power generation in Bihar will be doubled to 4,000 mw by next year, said the State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on October 9. He reasserted his commitment not to seek votes in the 2015 Assembly elections if he failed to improve the power scenario in the state.    The Chief Minister said that the government is supplying 2,000 mw power and it will be doubled to 4,000 mw by next year. Nitish Kumar said this at a function after laying the foundation to sub-stations in Pandarak in Mokama sub-division of Patna district.    Work is underway to start generation in one unit at the 660 mw NTPC plant in Barh. The Chief Minister stated that under the Rajiv Gandhi rural electrification project, 16 kv and 26 kv transformers were being installed.
