Another expressway between Agra and Lucknow has been planned by the Uttar Pradesh Government, which implemented the Yamuna Expressway between Greater Noida and Agra. However, the Agra-Lucknow project is unlikely to come with as large a land parcel as the Yamuna Expressway.
The company, Jaypee Infratech, which implemented the Rs 13,300 crore Yamuna Expressway project, has rights to develop 6,175 acres along the Expressway. The bidding process – technical and financial – is likely to be over by October 2013. The project should be done in three years after that, said Mukul Singhal, Chief Executive Officer, UP State Highways Authority and Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority.
He was speaking at the FICCI conference on infrastructure. Singhal, however, declined to comment on the extent of land that would be made available for the new expressway. He said the exact details would be known once the detailed project report is prepared.
