Badal said this while presiding over a meeting of the Punjab Urban Development Authority recently. Also, the officers were told that sectors would be carved out in Mullanpur and they would be, like Chandigarh, on the same sectoral grid pattern.
The officers were told to acquire land for constructing two 200-foot wide roads (eight-lane road). While one road will connect Mullanpur, Mohali and Kharar and touch NH 21, 22, 64 and will link the proposed road to Mohali International Airport. The other road will be from Mullanpur to Chandigarh straight from Sector 25 and 38 diving road.
Sukhbir also recently okayed the extension plan of Mullanpur, paving the way for developing this area as a magnet for futuristic development with state-of-the-art facilities. He said that the road grid of the Mullanpur city had to be in total synchronisation with master plan and road network should be planned keeping in view the pressure of development for the next 50 years.
