During the current financial year, Himachal Pradesh government will spend Rs 2,250 crore on construction of roads and bridges in the state.
Minister of State for PWD Thakur Gulab Singh said this at a press conference in Dharamsala on July 24. He said 500 km new roads would be constructed and 600 km roads metalled. Besides, 30 road bridges would be constructed. Singh also that a 4,940-mt long road tunnel through Dhouladhar Ranges would be dug to connect Kangra with Chamba district.
The government in the state has laid 3,322 km roads and constructed 240 bridges so far, he added.
