Toshiba and JSW to set up turbine plant near Chennai

JSW Turbine and Generator Pvt Ltd (Toshiba JSW) the joint venture between Toshiba and JSW Group have finalised their plans to put up a turbine and generator manufacturing facility near Chennai with a Rs 800 crore investment. As per the MoU signed between the company and the Tamil Nadu Government, the MoU allows Toshiba JSW to lease land for the construction of manufacturing facilities at the Chennai.

 

The joint venture will manufacture and supply mid sized and large-sized steam turbines and generators, ranging from 500 MW to 1,000 MW which are used for super-critical thermal power plants in India. The construction works at the site is expected to start by this month and the manufacturing is expected to start by January 2011.
